The Middle East is an area where car is king and fuel is cheap, typically leaving little reward to find more environmentally-friendly methods of walking around.

But this year, as protests throughout the Middle East have actually risen the price of oil, the problem of discovering alternative sources of fuel has come into sharp focus.

In an area that has one of the highest carbon footprints in the world, one organization is making the most of the growing pressure to discover options to oil. It's established the Middle East's first plan to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's showing profitable too, currently their client-list contains McDonald's.
